Code Of Conduct

Purpose:

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Network Operators Group (KPNOG) is a friendly and inclusive community of people working across the Internet industry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Our members include professionals from ISPs, academia, healthcare, content providers, and many other fields. You will find IT specialists, trainers, cloud and security experts, AI enthusiasts, and network engineers, alongside anyone with a passion for technology.

KPNOG is built on respect, learning, and collaboration. In line with the traditions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, we emphasize dignity, hospitality, and fairness while fostering a global spirit of cooperation. Whether through mailing lists, online sessions, or community events, our aim is to provide a welcoming space where everyone feels safe, respected, and valued.


Application:

This Code sets out the expectations for all participants and sponsors in KPNOG activities. It applies to:

  • All KPNOG events and sessions (online or in-person), including breaks and social gatherings.
  • All KPNOG communication channels, such as mailing lists, training, moderated social media platforms, and the website.
  • By taking part in KPNOG activities, you agree to abide by this Code of Conduct.
  • We invite all sponsors, volunteers, speakers, attendees, and community members to help create a safe, positive, and respectful environment.
  • Expected Behavior
  • Participants in KPNOG activities are encouraged to:
  • Be considerate, respectful, and collaborative.
  • Use polite and inclusive language.
  • Participate sincerely and constructively.
  • Be mindful of cultural values, surroundings, and fellow participants.
  • Report unsafe or inappropriate behavior to event staff or the KPNOG Steering Committee.


Unacceptable Behavior:

KPNOG is committed to providing a respectful and inclusive environment for all. Any form of unacceptable behavior will not be tolerated at KPNOG events or in KPNOG communications.

Examples of unacceptable behavior include, but are not limited to:

  • Harassment or discrimination of any kind, including offensive comments or behavior based on gender, culture, religion, ethnicity, age, disability, or personal background.
  • Disrespectful or offensive speech or writing, including the use of inappropriate language, ridicule, or insults.
  • Unwanted physical contact or behavior that disregards personal boundaries.
  • Displaying inappropriate or offensive material, including images or slides that conflict with cultural values, modesty, or community respect.
  • Intimidation, bullying, or stalking, whether in person or online.
  • Taking photos, videos, or recordings without consent. Respect privacy if someone asks not to be recorded or photographed.
  • Use of intoxicants or disorderly conduct that disrupts the dignity of the event.
  • Interrupting or disrupting talks, sessions, or discussions in a way that prevents others from learning or participating.


Reporting Concerns:

If you experience unacceptable behavior, witness it happening to someone else, or have any related concerns, please report it immediately.

You can contact the KPNOG Steering Committee directly:

During events, staff and volunteers will be clearly identified and available to help. They can:

  • Listen to your concern respectfully and in confidence.
  • Assist you in contacting venue security, law enforcement, or emergency services if necessary.
  • Provide an escort or other support to ensure you feel safe throughout the event.
  • All reports will be taken seriously, handled discreetly, and followed up with appropriate action to protect the dignity and well-being of participants.


Consequences of unacceptable behavior:

KPNOG is a community built on respect, learning, and mutual support. To protect this environment, certain standards must be upheld.

If someone is asked to stop unacceptable behavior, they are expected to comply immediately. Depending on the situation, the KPNOG Steering Committee may:

  • Request an apology.
  • Remind the individual of the Code of Conduct and ask them to adjust their behavior.
  • Issue a formal warning.
  • Ask the individual to leave the session or event.
  • Restrict or suspend participation in future KPNOG events, mailing lists, or forums.
  • Inform the individual’s organization if appropriate.
  • Refer the matter to the relevant authorities if necessary.
  • If removal from an event becomes necessary, no refund of registration or related fees will be provided. A person removed from an event will not be permitted to deliver any planned presentations, and their slot may be reassigned.
  • All decisions will be made with fairness, discretion, and respect for community values.

 

Privacy:

Respecting dignity and privacy is central to KPNOG’s values.

  • Individuals reporting a breach of this Code may request confidentiality. While KPNOG will honor such requests whenever possible, action may still be taken if required to protect the safety of others.
  • All reports will be handled with discretion and kept as confidential as the law allows.
  • Every effort will be made to ensure that individuals raising concerns feel safe and respected.

This Code of Conduct exists to ensure that KPNOG events and platforms remain safe, respectful, and welcoming for all participants. By joining, you help strengthen a community where knowledge is shared openly, collaboration is encouraged, and everyone is treated with dignity.
